About us
A real Nepali home, not a chain hotel
Sacred Trails is run by the Giri family, who opened their home so travellers could experience Kathmandu warmly and peacefully. We have six private rooms and a family apartment, each kept spotless with hotel-grade linen — and a rooftop where guests gather for sunrise tea and the valley lights at night.
We’re happy to help with everything from the best local momo to day trips, meditation retreats and full Himalayan treks. Our languages: Nepali, English and Hindi.

Hotel stay
Mr. Giri and his wife welcomed us like family. The bed was the comfiest I slept in during my whole Nepal trip, and the home-cooked dal bhat on the first night was outstanding. Best value accommodation in Kathmandu by far.

Where exactly is Sacred Trails Homestay?
At Tushal Height, Budhanilkantha-5, Kathmandu 44600 — on the northern edge of the city at the foot of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, a short walk from Budhanilkantha Temple.
How far is it from the airport and Thamel?
Tribhuvan International Airport is about 12 km away (usually 30–40 minutes by car) and Thamel is 8–10 km away (25–35 minutes by taxi). Airport pickup can be arranged on request.
How much is a room?
Deluxe King and Deluxe Twin rooms are $35 a night with breakfast, and the 2-bedroom family apartment with kitchen is $70 a night. There are no booking fees when you book direct.
Is breakfast included?
Yes — a fresh, home-cooked Nepali or continental breakfast is included with the Deluxe rooms, and can be arranged on request for the apartment.
Can you arrange treks and tours?
Yes. We run Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp and Poon Hill treks and seven tours, including Chitwan, Lumbini and Pokhara, with homestay nights before and after.
