Our story
A family home that welcomes the world
Sacred Trails began with a simple idea: guests should feel welcomed, not just checked in. The Giri family opened their home on the hillside at Tushal Height so that travellers could experience Kathmandu warmly and peacefully, away from the noise of the city centre.
Today we have six private rooms and one fully equipped family apartment, all with high-quality linen and comfortable mattresses. Breakfast is cooked fresh every morning, and we’re always happy to suggest a temple to visit, a trail to walk or a restaurant to try. We are not a chain hotel — and that’s the point.

Giri and his family opened their home so that travellers could experience Kathmandu warmly and peacefully. Giri personally helps guests plan day trips, find good local restaurants, join meditation retreats and prepare for treks — all the way to Everest Base Camp.

Our services
Everything arranged, nothing left to chance
Airport pickup & drop-off
We meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and bring you straight to the homestay — about 12 km, usually 30–40 minutes. Drop-offs are timed to your flight. Arrange it on request when you book.
Home-cooked breakfast
A fresh Nepali or continental breakfast cooked by the family each morning, included with our Deluxe rooms and available on request for the apartment. Vegetarian options always; other diets with notice.
Rooftop & shared spaces
A rooftop terrace with views over the Kathmandu Valley and the Shivapuri forest for sunrise, yoga or evening tea, plus a lobby and shared balconies on every floor.
Trekking arrangements
Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, Poon Hill and other routes, with permits, licensed guides, porters and teahouses organised — and homestay nights before and after.
Day tours & sightseeing
Kathmandu Valley heritage tours, Chitwan and Bardia safaris, Lumbini pilgrimages and Pokhara escapes, private or in small groups.
Taxis, cars & tickets
Taxis to Thamel and the city, private car hire, and help booking tourist-bus tickets for onward travel.
Our location
Budhanilkantha — peaceful yet connected
We sit at the foot of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, about 12 km (30–40 minutes) from Tribhuvan International Airport and 25–35 minutes by taxi from Thamel. Forest trails start within walking distance, and the reclining Vishnu of Budhanilkantha Temple is just down the road.
