Volunteers are some of our most regular guests. Whether you are in Kathmandu for a few nights before heading to a placement or living with us for months, Sacred Trails gives you a quiet family home to come back to — and people who can help with the practical side of settling in.

Arriving

Send us your flight details and we will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport and bring you to Budhanilkantha — about 12 km and 30–40 minutes. A local SIM card with data can be bought at the airport. If you land late, message us on WhatsApp in advance and we will arrange your arrival.

Staying longer

  • Weekly and monthly rates on request, plus 6% off any stay of 7 nights or more.
  • The 2-bedroom family apartment ($70 a night) has a fully equipped kitchen and a living room — good for two volunteers sharing, or anyone who wants to cook.
  • Deluxe King and Twin rooms ($35 a night) include a home-cooked breakfast.
  • A study table and fast Wi-Fi in every room for reports, lesson plans and video calls home.
  • Laundry for a small charge, and fresh linen and towels on request.

Between placements

Going out of the valley for a while? Leave your spare luggage with us and collect it when you come back. We can also arrange taxis, private cars and bus tickets for onward travel.

Treks and tours for your days off

  • Poon Hill Trek — 6 days, from $700 per person: Nepal's favourite short trek, with a Himalayan sunrise from 3,210 m.
  • Chitwan National Park Safari — 4 days, from $340 per person: jeep safari, canoe ride and Tharu village life.
  • Pokhara Escape — 4 nights / 5 days, from $400 per person: lakeside Pokhara with flights both ways.
  • Kathmandu City Tour — 4 nights / 5 days, from $280 per person: the valley's UNESCO-listed sites with a guide.
