Wooden study desk and mirror for remote work or trip planning

We regularly host digital nomads, volunteers, students, language learners, meditation students and families who stay for weeks or months. Budhanilkantha is a calm residential neighbourhood at the foot of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park — a good place to settle into a routine, with the city 25–35 minutes away when you want it.

Long-stay rates

  • Stay 3 nights or more: 5% off.
  • Stay 7 nights or more: 6% off.
  • Weekly and monthly rates on request — message us with your dates for a quote.
  • Booking 14 or more days ahead: 5% off; 30 or more days ahead: 6% off.

Working from the homestay

Every room has a study table, and fast, unlimited Wi-Fi covers the rooms, the lobby and the rooftop. When you need a change of scene, the rooftop terrace looks across the Kathmandu Valley to the Shivapuri forest.

Which room for a long stay?

Solo travellers and couples usually take a Deluxe King room ($35 a night with breakfast, before long-stay discounts). If you want to cook, the 2-bedroom family apartment ($70 a night) has a fully equipped kitchen, a dining table and a living room, which makes longer stays much more affordable.

Everyday life in Budhanilkantha

  • Cafés, local Nepali restaurants and international options are within walking distance or a short ride, and delivery apps reach the homestay.
  • The nearest bus stop is about a 10-minute walk, with regular buses and minibuses into the city; taxis and ride-hailing are easy to find.
  • Budhanilkantha Temple is a short walk away, and Shivapuri forest trails start on the edge of the neighbourhood.
  • Laundry is available for a small charge, and fresh linen and towels on request.

Visas and practicalities

Tourist visas can be extended at the immigration offices in Kathmandu or Pokhara, up to a maximum of 150 days in a calendar year (as published in October 2026 — check the Department of Immigration website for current rules). We can help with directions to the office. A local SIM card with data can be bought at the airport when you arrive.
