Kathmandu can be loud. Budhanilkantha, on the valley's northern edge below Shivapuri forest, is the quiet side of the city — and Sacred Trails is a family home where couples can sleep well, take breakfast slowly and plan the next adventure together.

Your room

Most couples choose a Deluxe King Room: a king-size bed in hotel-grade linen, a private bathroom with 24/7 hot water, exposed brick, timber beams and carved wooden windows. Selected King rooms have a private balcony facing the Shivapuri forest — ask for one when you book. It is $35 a night for the room, breakfast for two included.

Evenings on the rooftop

The rooftop terrace is the place for sunrise tea as the Shivapuri ridge catches the light, sunset as the Kathmandu Valley turns gold, and the city lights spreading out below after dark.

Close to home

  • Budhanilkantha Temple and its great reclining Vishnu, a short walk away.
  • Easy forest walks on the edge of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park.
  • Boudhanath, Swayambhunath and Pashupatinath, 30–45 minutes by car — we can arrange a driver or guide.
  • Thamel for an evening out, about 25–35 minutes by taxi.

Trips for two

All our tours run as private departures, so it can be just the two of you and your guide. Our treks run from two people upwards.
