Buddhist stupa and prayer flags beneath snow peaks on the Everest Base Camp trek

On a teahouse trek you carry — or your porter carries — only what you need. Everything else can stay with us in Kathmandu. Our guests leave suitcases, city clothes and spare gear at Sacred Trails and collect them when they come back.

How it works

  1. Stay with us the night before your trek or tour.
  2. Pack your trekking bag; we'll help you check you have everything.
  3. Leave the rest with the family — it stays safely in the house.
  4. Come back, collect your bags, and rest.

What to leave behind

  • Your suitcase and city clothes.
  • Laptops and electronics you won't need on the trail.
  • Souvenirs you've already bought.
  • Spare documents — keep your passport and permits with you.

Coming back

After the mountains, a hot shower, laundry for a small charge and a quiet night are what everyone wants. Our treks and longer tours include your homestay nights before and after the trail, so you don't pay for those rooms twice.

Frequently asked questions
